Poems by Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian

Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian

French author, born on 06/03/1755 at Sauve (France), deceased on 13/09/1794 at Sceaux (France).

Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian, an 18th-century writer, is, after La Fontaine, one of the most widely read French fabulists. His "Fables" (1792) gave us phrases that entered the language, such as "Pour vivre heureux, vivons cachés." He also wrote the lyrics to the song "Plaisir d'amour."
