Poems by Fanny De Beauharnais

Fanny De Beauharnais

French author, born on 04/10/1737 at Paris (France), deceased on 02/07/1813 in France.

Fanny de Beauharnais, a woman of letters, hosted a Paris salon attended by writers of the late 18th century. By marriage the aunt of Joséphine, the future empress, she published poems, novels, and plays, often mocked by her contemporaries. Several of her poems, such as "To Men," wittily answer the prejudices of her time about women.
