Your Mouth Says: Kiss Me

Poem by Charles D'Orléans Collection RondeauxPeriod 15th century

Your mouth says: Kiss me,
So it seems to me when I look at it;
But Danger guards it too closely,
From which I receive many a sorrow.

Let me have, by your faith,
A sweet kiss, without further delay;
Your mouth says: Kiss me,
So it seems to me when I look at it.

Danger hates me, I know not why,
And always Trouble pierces me;
I pray to God that an evil fire burn him!
It is time he kept quiet.
Your mouth says: Kiss me.
