Poems by Auguste Barbier

Auguste Barbier

French author, born on 28/04/1805 at Paris (France), deceased on 13/02/1882 at Nice (France).

Auguste Barbier became famous overnight with "La Curée," a satirical poem written after the 1830 revolution. His "Iambes," a collection of anger against those who profited from the revolution, remains his major work. He wrote the libretto for Berlioz's "Benvenuto Cellini" and was elected to the Académie française in 1869.
