Poems by Alphonse Allais

Alphonse Allais

French author, born on 20/10/1854 at Honfleur (France), deceased on 28/10/1905 at Paris (France).

Alphonse Allais, a humorist born in Honfleur, is famous for his absurd tales and puns published in the press, notably in Le Chat Noir. Deadpan, he pushed wordplay to the point of holorime verses, which rhyme from one end of the line to the other. His poems, such as "Rimes riches à l'œil," show this taste for verbal acrobatics.
