Young New Lovers

Poem by Charles D'Orléans Collection RondeauxPeriod 15th century

Young new lovers,
In the new season,
Through the streets, without reason
Ride along leaping.

And they make leap from the windowpanes
The fire, like that of coal:
Young new lovers
In the new season.

I do not know whether their labors
They employ well or not;
But pricked by the spur
Are as much as their horses,
Young new lovers.
